Use a free-standing wall outlet in the room you want covered, ideally one that is not blocked by furniture. Ultrasonic sound does not pass through walls or large solid objects well, so an outlet with an open line of sight into the room works best.

The device releases no chemicals, and it is intended for normal indoor household use. Keep in mind that some animals — particularly rodent pets such as hamsters, gerbils, mice and rats, and some rabbits — can hear ultrasonic frequencies. If you keep pets like these, we do not recommend using the unit in the same room. If you have any specific health or safety concern, ask your vet or physician.

Not reliably. Ultrasonic sound is easily blocked and absorbed by walls, doors, cabinets, curtains and upholstered furniture. Treat each room as its own space, and avoid outlets that sit behind a sofa or a cupboard.
